A Step-by-Step Guide from Adventure Gear South
Buying a firearm online doesn’t have to be complicated. At Adventure Gear South, we follow every federal, state, and local regulation carefully — and we make the process straightforward so you can purchase with confidence. If this is your first time ordering a firearm online, take a few minutes to review the steps below. If you have questions at any point, we’re here to help.
Step 1: Choose Your FFL Transfer Dealer
Federal law requires all firearms purchased online to be shipped to a licensed Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer.
You cannot have a firearm shipped directly to your home unless you are an FFL holder yourself.
Here’s how to get started:
• Locate a local FFL dealer near you
• Confirm they are currently accepting transfers
• Ask about their transfer fee
You may use our FFL Finder during checkout, or search online for “FFL near me.”
We recommend contacting your chosen FFL before placing your order to make sure everything is set up properly.
Step 2: Notify Your FFL
Let your selected FFL know you’ve placed an order and that they’ll be receiving a firearm on your behalf.
They may request:
• Your full legal name
• Your contact information
• Order details
If we do not already have their license on file, your FFL may send us a copy of their current FFL license for verification.
We will not ship any firearm until proper documentation is confirmed.
Step 3: Place Your Order Online
When checking out:
• Enter the FFL dealer’s address as the shipping address
• Use the FFL’s business name in the company field
• Double-check all information before submitting
If you’re unsure about any part of the process, contact us before completing your order. We’re happy to walk you through it.
Some firearms listed on our website are sourced through distributor or buying group partnerships. In these cases, product photos and specifications may not reflect every variation of the item.
We strongly recommend verifying the manufacturer’s model number or UPC directly with the manufacturer before ordering.
Buying the correct configuration is your responsibility — and we want you to get it right the first time.
Step 4: Complete the Transfer at Your FFL
Once your firearm arrives, your FFL will contact you.
To complete the transfer, you must:
• Bring a valid government-issued photo ID
• Ensure your legal name and current residential address match
• Complete ATF Form 4473
• Pass any required background check
Before finalizing the transfer, inspect the firearm carefully.
Once the transfer is completed at the FFL, the sale is considered final and cannot be returned or refunded.
If you notice any manufacturer defect, it must be addressed directly with the manufacturer under their warranty.
Step 5: Take Ownership Responsibly
After completing the required paperwork and background check, your FFL will finalize the transfer.
At that point, the firearm legally becomes yours.
We encourage every customer to:
• Review your owner’s manual
• Use proper storage solutions
• Seek professional training if needed
• Practice safe handling at all times
Take care of your equipment — and it will take care of you when it matters most.
